  • Remember, telephone interviews can happen at any time and may not be scheduled calls.
  • Always make sure you conduct a telephone interview in a suitable environment
  • The telephone interview is sometimes used as a “pre-screening” tool to ensure that you are serious about the position.
  • Listen carefully to the questions and ask the interviewer to repeat anything you don’t understand.
  • Your voice is the most important tool as the interviewer is unable to judge your body language in making a decision to hire you.
  • Use a clear voice and be enthusiastic.
  • Be comfortable with using the telephone for interview purposes.
  • Avoid using the “hands free” or “speaker” option.
  • Video Interview Tips
  • Treat this type of interview as you would a traditional face-to-face interview.
  • Dress professionally. Don't wear white, striped, or plain clothing; instead wear color which will show up better on the screen. Don't wear large or reflective jewelry.
  • Stay stationary in front of the camera and avoid chairs that rock or spin.
  • Address you answers to the camera (interviewer), not the display screen.
  • Listen carefully to the questions and instructions asking the interviewer to repeat anything you don't understand.
  • Face to Face Interviews Tips
  • One to One.
  • Sequential Interviews.
  • Panel Interviews.
  • Before you go on a job interview, it's important to find out as much as you can about the company. That way you'll be prepared both to answer interview questions and to ask the interviewer questions. You will also be able to find out whether the company and the company culture are a good fit for you.
  • Take some time, in advance, to use the Internet to discover as much information as you can about the company.  Spend time, as well, tapping into your network to see who you know who can help give you an interview edge over the other candidates.  Here's how to research a company.
  • Visit the Company Website. Visit the company web site, review the company mission statement and company history, products and services, management, as well as information about the company culture. The information is usually available in the About Us section of the site.
  • Use Linked In. Linked in company profiles are a good way to find, at glance, more information on a company you're interested in.  You'll be able to see your connections at the company, new hires, promotions, jobs posted, related companies, and company statistics. Take a look at your interviewer's profile to get insight into their job and their background.
  • Use Social Media. Check Facebook and Twitter. Become a Fan of the company on Facebook and follow it on Twitter. You'll find information you may not have found otherwise.
DRESSING UP
  • The first impression you make on a potential employer is the most important one. The first judgement an interviewer makes is going to be based on how you look and what you are wearing. That's why it's always important to dress professionally for a job interview, even if the work environment is casual.
  • What's the appropriate dress code for an interview ? You'll want the first impression to be not just a good one, but, a great one. The candidate dressed in a suit and tie is going to make a much better impression than the candidate dressed in scruffy jeans and a t-shirt.
